A Critical Review of the Conceptualization, Operationalization, and Empirical Literature on Cognition?Based and Affect?Based Trust

Trust plays a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of effective working relationships. In this paper we offer critical review conceptualization operationalization cognition-based affect-based trust. While definitions measures trust are abundant, view as concept with cognitive affective bases is well established. Nevertheless, validity approach has rarely been examined. Our theoretical empirical (content study, systematic meta-analysis) literature reveals failure to fully capture cognition or affect current theory measurement. We find construct be particularly problematic its form.
